Nashville = Speed Trap

Tuesday

Author: CT, Category: Nashville Misc.

According to ForbesAutos.com, Nashville is the nation’s 5th worst city for speed traps! Apparently they used the user posts from this website to compile their list. Hey, I consider myself pretty speedy, but if the city is indeed out to get me, I’m slowing down!

Feel free to do your fellow lead-foots a solid by sharing the location of speed traps that you notice regularly around town.

Parra is Perfect

Nashville Sounds pitcher Manny Parra pitched a perfect game against the Round Rock Express yesterday. The
24-year-old Parra notched only the eighth perfect game in Pacific Coast League history. He struck out 11 in the history-making effort.

Seriously, this is a big deal. Perfect games (Only the minimum of 27 batters are faced and no one reaches base) happen once in a lifetime, maybe.

Congratulations Manny. Well done.

Looks like District Attorney Arthur Branch is going to call Nashville home for his 2008 Presidential bid. At least that’s what WSMV-TV is reporting

Sometimes I wonder why stuff like this is even newsworthy. It’s not like anyone on the planet suspected he’d set up shop anywhere other than Nashville. Look for an official announcement possibly coming tomorrow.

Which Wich #16 of 51 - The Turkey Reuben

How I had it: The standard issue Turkey Reuben comes with turkey, kraut & 1000 Island. Ihad it on wheat bread and added provolone, deli mustard, tomatoes, bell peppers and black pepper. It looked a little like this:

Yep, there’s no picture here. You know why? I was too hungry. It’s the truth people. I just plain forgot to snap a picture. Hey, it happens sometimes, right? Sorry about that.

I also had House chips and water. I forgot the veggies. Sue me.

How it was: Delicious. I had a sandwich epiphany today. The brilliance of WW is not the design of the store or the simple yet interactive ordering procedure. The brilliance of WW is that you can have your sandwich your way. Try walking into Jason’s Deli and ordering a Turkey Reuben with Cheez Whiz and jalapenos. It ain’t gonna happen people. I’ve always enjoyed Reubens, but you know what? I’ve never really liked rye bread and secretly I’ve always wanted to dress it up a little. So that’s what I did. I had it on wheat and added provolone and those veggies and deli mustard and black pepper to my Turkey Reuben. And you know what? It was the best Turkey Reuben I’ve ever had. Sandwich purists may scream “Blasphemy!” but to you I say this: “It’s my wich, my way. Now back off!”

So what about Monday? Should I have…

  1. The Tuna Melt
  2. The Bacon & Egg
  3. The Italian Beef (with giardiniera)
  4. The Myhami (ham & roast beef)
  5. The Hummus & Bell Peppers

Don’t forget, relatively new Nashvillian Jack White, along with his sister/ex-wife Meg, released a new White Stripes album this past Tuesday.  They’re calling it Icky Thump and apparently, it kind of rocks hard.

And don’t buy it at iTunes or Amazon, but rather shut the laptop down for a while and visit Grimey’s.  You’ll be glad you did.
