Pacman Jones is going to be a professional wrestler.

Pacman Jones is not going to be a professional wrestler.

In the name of all that is good and clean and skank-free, what is this guy thinking?

SIDE NOTE: I never thought I would ever have to tag a blog post with the term “Professional Wrestling.”  God help us all.

BarCamp Nashville

I’ve had like 4 people in the last week ask me this question: “You going to BarCamp?”

The first time I was like “What in the crap is BarCamp?”

The second time I was like “I’m going to go read about some BarCamp.”

The third time I was like “BarCamp?  I think so.  Now what is that again?”

The fourth time I was like “BarCamp… BarCamp… I know I’ve heard of that, oh yeah, the blogging/new media event…”

Point is, with a name like BarCamp and a cool logo like that, I would think this thing would have been stuck in my brain by now.  Am I too busy?  Am I an idiot?  Don’t answer that last one.

Seriously though, can someone really explain this thing to me?  Is it really just a glorified local blogger meetup?  I’m not ripping the thing, I’m just trying to understand it.  Anyone have some good ol’ plain English to share?

So what about you?  Are you going to BarCamp Nashville?  ARE YOU???????

Kings of Leon add second Ryman date

I can hardly contain myself right now…

According to their official website, the Ryman’s website and Pitchfork (so it must be true), Nashville’s own Kings of Leon have added a second Ryman Auditorium date to their fall tour.  Ignoring the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans, this means that the Followill boys will be ending their North American tour with two (sure to be sold out) nights at the hallowed church on Fifth Avenue.

And don’t forget that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will be opening.  I’ll be at one of those shows, no doubt.  Anyone else going?  Maybe we need a Kings meetup that evening before the show?

Nashville via Laguna Beach

So have you heard about this new reality television show coming to Fox?  Yeah, it’s called “Nashville” and it’s being brought to us by the fine people responsible for “Laguna Beach.”  According to Test Pattern, the show will “follow a bunch of country-music hopefuls, who also happen to be good-looking, telegenic, and camera-ready.”

I’ll at least give the docu-drama a shot when it premieres in September, but my guess is it’s probably going to suck.  On the other hand, I think there’s a good chance that people who don’t live in Nashville could be fascinated with it.

Mindy McCready arrested… again

USA Today has the details. Ms. McCready allegedly scratched her mom on the face during a scuffle and then resisted arrest when the sheriff deputies showed up. All of this is apparently in violation of her probation stemming from a 2004 prescription drug charge.

The article says that there is another potential probation violation on the way as a result of her 2005 arrest for drunk driving. Wait… if she was on probation in 2004 for illegal prescription drugs, how was a 2005 drunk driving charge not a violation of that probation? I don’t understand the freaking legal system, but I do understand that Mindy McCready is slowly but surely becoming country music’s Lindsay Lohan. God I hope she gets some serious help this time around.

Nashville is definitely in for a treat tonight when soulful garage rockers (and Bobby Bare Jr. labelmates) The Detroit Cobras sink their teeth into The End crowd tonight at 8:00 pm.  Think Amy Winehouse - r&b + punk + real instruments.  And The Willowz are opening?????  Geez, that’s going to be one hell of a show…

Yep, the 2007 edition of “You are so Nashville if” is finally out. You can pick up the hard copy version on newsstands today or you can click on over and enjoy them in straight digital fashion.

Some people think YASNI is offensive. Some people think it needs to die. I think it’s freaking hysterical.

What do you think?

I’ll let you decide.  Nashville Cream has the details.

This saddens me a little because I’m so ga ga (no pun intended) over this new Spoon album.  Hmmm… Spoon is coming to town in October.  I wonder if HIBTB shows up with their rumble clothes on?  Maybe Spoon calls the boys from the ‘Boro up on stage with them for that number?
