Maury County, Tennessee has asked the US government for federal funds to help with the rise of unemployed workers from the soon-idle General Motors Spring Hill plant.
GM announced last week that the small car that might have come to the plant instead went to Detroit, Michigan. The plant will suspend operations in November and will see a huge influx in unemployment.
Officials are hoping that the plant will find a new product to make before November, however chances are not looking good and they are currently in the process of applying for a federal emergency grant.
