Metro Nashville had hoped to have their Christmas tree picked out by now, but the past few years of drought are making it hard for officials to find the perfect Norway Spruce.

The Metro Nashville Superintendent of Horticulture, Randall Lantz, said he has received several calls from Nashville locals offering to provide the tree.  Lantz stated that most were pines and one was reportedly even 80 feet tall.  According to Lantz, the perfect Spruce should be between 23 and 35 feet in height.

“The last two years we’ve been incredibly fortunate,” Lantz stated.  “Last year we had a beautiful tree with just a little hole in it. We really want a tree that someone needs taken down.”

If you happen to have or know about a tree that could be used this year, please give Randall a break by calling him at 615-862-8400.

Once the tree has been picked out, NES will transport and install the tree at the Public Square of Second Avenue and Union Street.  The lighting ceremony will hopefully still happen at 6pm December 5.  Fingers crossed for that perfect Spruce!
